As most of you have probably heard by now, WTBU took home Station of the Year at last night’s award ceremony in NYC. Big thanks to everyone for putting all those extra hours in to make our station a fun and quirky place to listen to music, sports, etc. Even though this is the biggest honor in our industry, we’re not stopping here. This is just a stepping stone to get more listeners, resources and ultimately improve the station. CMJ, a weekly music-business trade magazine, released its nominees for its 2012 CMJ College Radio Awards today. Hospital Blues, a kickin’ indie-punk rawk band from the hills of Central Pennsylvania, will be rocking out in studio on Friday at Left of the Dial. They’re a pretty new band. Congratulations to all the winners at the Spring 2011 WTBU Awards! Some notable wins included Chris Weiseman for Intern of the Semester (on The Show About Nothing) and High Fidelity for the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Awards also featured musical performances by Fort! the Band and Lauren Hurley, as well as a special guest performance by WTBU’s own Hartley Abdekalimi. The Sports Department also announced their new Director at the awards, senior DJ Tyler Murray.
