WTBU NOMINATED FOR STATION OF THE YEAR: CHAMPION OF THE LOCAL SCENE

CMJ, a weekly music-business trade magazine, released its nominees for its 2012 CMJ College Radio Awards today. WTBU, the student-run radio station of Boston University, notched four nominations, including the top honor, “Station of the Year.”

“It’s great to get recognized for all the work we put in over the last year,” said WTBU general manager Matt Paterno.

“We’ve been doing a lot of innovative things, both on- and off-air, and it looks like the rest of the community is starting to catch on.”

WTBU faces Concordia University’s CJLO, University of Minnesota Twin Cities’ KUOM, and Michigan State University’s WDBM for the “Station of the Year” award.

The station also received nominations for “Best Use of Limited Resources” and “Champion of the Local Scene.” WTBU music director James “DJ Rapscallion” Miller received a nod for “Music Director of the Year.”

“I’m just really happy for our student-staff, who dedicate a lot of their free time to make WTBU a better station,” said Paterno.

The winners will be announced on October 18 in New York City.

WTBU is the parent station of WTBU News.
