It’s been 17 years since GZA’s Liquid Swords was released, solidifying the legendary status of the Wu-Tang Clan as one of the greatest hip-hop collectives of all time. This weekend GZA represented The Clan at the paradise, and showed us that 17 years is not long enough for their glory to fade. All of Fitchburg came to see The Front Bottoms Thursday night at T.T. the Bears in Cambridge. Or at least that’s what some kid said to the drummer, Matt Uychich, outside the venue before the show. I had been looking forward to seeing Clap Your Hands Say Yeah for a while now. I listened to them a lot in high school and i thought seeing them would bring about some nice feeling of nostalgia. As the weekend approaches, I am met with mounting excitement to catch the up-and-coming band, Into It. Over It., on their first tour as full band. The Chicago based indie post-rock band is guided by the poignant lyrics of singer-songwriter Evan Weiss. Amidst the tour, the band has released their much anticipated 52 Weeks vinyl box set, which encompasses Weiss’s year-long project during which he wrote, recorded, and released a new song every week. Cal and Rez came back again and threw up an even bigger show. Thursday night at the House of Blues, Timeflies took the stage and debuted some new remixes that only they could produce. We felt out of place as we scanned the crowd, noticing thirties-looking couples, sprinkled with the occasional high-school-age hipster with interesting hair, identifying himself as being into “retro” music. October sixth at the House of Blues was quite the show. Crystal Castles was scheduled to play with multiple openers including, Plore Weekend X, Cite, Chad Jack, Pictureplane, and the much anticipated, Health, who were featured in Crystal Castles’ original hit, ‘Crimewave’.
