Strange Mangers at Precinct (3/22)

Strange Mangers’ self -titled debut has been one of my top bandcamp hits lately. The quartet has risen from a notable and prolific Northeastern University music scene with their brand of carefully-constructed indie post-rock. Strange Mangers may still be in their infancy, but their music is a sophisticated and complex first step, and their show last week at Precinct didn’t miss a note. In a young and sometimes restless local scene, Strange Mangers display a certain level of patience, which leads to captivating translations of their precision rock. There’s almost a progressive edge to their tunes as well, with some songs weaving through different movements in the live setting. Like a Modest Mouse circa Lonesome Crowded West, there are times of frenzied electricity, which seemingly drops out to a sedated and melodic release. For more, click here.
